All the fun of the fair!

April 19, 2011

I’ve finally done it….started a blog of my very own!

Having read so many inspiring and informative blogs in the past and been totally absorbed in them for hours on end, I’m taking the plunge to join the blogging world. I hope you’ll find my blogs of interest and enjoy reading them 🙂

I was lucky enough to exhibit at the ‘A Most Curious Vintage Wedding Fair’ on Saturday in Norwich, run by the lovely Becky from A Most Curious Parties. It was such a fabulous day and I met so many lovely suppliers and bridal couples, including the wonderful Miss Ruby Demuir who totally inspired me and suggested I start this blog! (thank you!). I’ve also been a big fan of Ali Lovegrove and the infamous RocknRollBride and their blogging styles – watching them on their latest web shows together was utterly inspirational and gave me the boost I needed to give it a go myself…so here I am!

The fair was in a lovely old building and saw so many great suppliers come together to offer couples with a vintage inspired theme, something a little different. I only wish this sort of fair had been around back when I was planning my own wedding! It was chock full of unique ideas and vintage loveliness.  Be sure to check out the exhibitors list if you missed it! I was also thrilled to finally meet my long-time Twitter buddy from Cute As A Button ! She completed exceeded my expectations (which were already high!) and I can’t wait to exhibit alongside her at the ‘Truly Vintage’ Fair at her wedding venue, Glemham Hall in June!

It was the first time I’d exhibited and I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I arrived there was a great hub-bub as suppliers hurried to get their stands looking perfect. I soon found my display spot and followed suite! Since booking the fair, I’d been busy collecting vintage/antique pieces which would fit in with Elle Is For Love and would be a source of  ideas for couples looking for reception inspiration on the day.

It took a couple of hours to set up and get things exactly how I wanted them but I was so pleased when I stood back and saw my vision become a reality.

A lovely antique shelf I picked up at an antique fair then gave it a Shabby Chic makeover by stripping and painting it. I think it turned out quite well and fitted on the table perfectly to display my stationery and accessories.

Here’s a shot of the lovely vintage typewriter I picked up from the same antique fair. I used to it showcase an idea for an alternative guest book – with explanation card on the keys and vintage postcards ready for your guests to type (or write) well wishes to the Bride and Groom:

My lovely typewriter was a massive hit on the day and admired by all!

I decided to take a couple of alternative table plans to the show – one in a large frame with dusky pink pearl beading and the other a birdcage! Birdcages are so popular as centrepieces but make a great table plan idea. Pretty, floral tags hung from ribbon adorned the birdcage and makes a great talking piece:

Lastly, in my pic overload (!), there are a couple of photos of me enjoying the show!

I had such a great time and can’t wait to attend my next vintage fair!

I’ll be taking individual photos of all the new designs I created for the show shortly, so keep your eyes peeled for the new additions on my facebook page 🙂

Elle xx
